THREATENING' TO SHOOT HIS WIFE.

(Pep. United Press Association.) OAMARU, September 1. On Sunday morning a man named William Bead, a settler at Black Point, was arrested for threatening to shoot his wife with a revolver. Head Went to the house of a relative of his wife's and produced a- revolver, with which, it i? alleged, he made his. intentions known of shooting his wife, who was in a neighbour's house. He was watched by three men, who prevented his loading the revolver, although they made no attempt to deprive liim of the weapon. On the arrival of the police Read denied that, he had a revolver, but the weapon and SO rounds of ammuiiition were taken from him by force, and he was brought into town and charged to-day at the Magistrate's Court. A remand wae granted till Thursday, the magistrate refusing bail.
