Pr«s Association—By Telegraph-Copyright LONDON, August 28. (Received August 29, at 9.44 a.m.) Mr A. B. Markham, the member for Mansfield, lias apologised to Messrs Wernher, Beit, and Co., the South Africau firm against whom he brought charges of dishonesty in connection with a variety of matters which occurred during the earlier days of the war. Mr Markham, who first made the statements referred to from his place in Parliamout, subsequently repeated them outside. Ho now admits that they were unfounded, and based upon false information. The suit for libel has been withdrawn.
