The wicket was excellent, but the attendance only moderate. Quaife accompanied Wratliall, the not-out- mau, to the wickets. The partnership added 21, when Wratliall was caught- by Carter. Three for 51. Knight filled the vacancy. Quaifo scorcd freely, hitting up 41 before it reparation was effected, Knight, who had totted up a dozen, being caught by Saunders oft his own bowling. Four for 91. King succeeded, and added 4 before the luncheon adjournment. Oil resuming, the bat?nicn made tilings lively, until Qv.ufe, with 08 to his' credit, placed one from Hopkins into Howell's hands. He had played sound, skilful crickrt. Vive for 147. Whitehead followed, and ably assisted King in continuing the aggressive tactics. Tho second century was passed before a separation came, Trumper dismissing Whitehead by a catch off Saunders. Whitehead played a vigorous game. At the tea adjournment the board showed six wickets for 212.

The wickets fell rapidly after the tea adjournment. Crawford, who accompanied King, was caught- after making a couple. Seven for 215. Sowden's arrival proved fatal to King, who retired without- any further additions to his score. He played an excellent game. Knutton came next, but lost Sowden when tho latter had made 9. Nine for 232. liaii-stow, the last man, kept up his wickets while Knutton compiled 9, and then Noble found his- stumps, tho inning; closing for 240. June 28.' (Received June 29, at 3.30 p.m.) The match was concluded in brilliant weather on an excellent- wickct, but there was a meagre attendance. Kinnier and Wratliall opened well, but- the. former was dismissed by Jones with 18 to his credit. One for 29. Wratliall gave Trumpet' a catch shortly afterwards. Two for 43. Quaife was caught after scoring 4. Threo for .66. His partner, Seymour, gave Darling a catch four runs later. Four for 70. Knight was then bowled by Saunders. Five for 83. Crawford awl King carried 'tho game to luncheon, five wickets being down for 103. On resuming, the partnership put 011 an additional 37 runs, when King was bowled by Saunders. Six for 140. Whitehead was dismissed without scoring. Seven for 148. Carter accounted for Sowden by a catch off Saunders. Eight for 166. Knutton gave Armstrong a catch after making 5. Nino for 161. The end came by Jones clc-an bowling Crawford.
Tlio Australians' second innings opened badly. Darling was caught before a run w(is scorcd. Noble made a single, when ho was bowled by King. Two for 2. A catch by Wrathall accounted for Hopkins. • Three for 27. Armstrong and Duff put together the requisite runs to secure an Australian win by seven wickets. Scores:—;
