OTAGO MODEL YACHT CLUB.

The Otago Model Yacht Club held their fifth series of races on Lake Logan on Saturday. The wind was fresh from the N.E., and the .water was rather shallow. Results: —

First Cla3s Race.—Mr J. M'Pherson's Welcome 1, Mr W. Brittenden's Huon Belle 2, Mr A. Wilkinson's Meteor 3. Also started: Millie. The Welcome drew away from the others on the beat to windward, the Millie and Huon Belle keeping close together. The Welcome led on the run, and had a good lead down to the northern posts, eventually winning with a lot to spare. The Millie, who was going well in second position, hud the misfortune to carry away her boom, and the Huon Belle, which was not sailing too well, took second position and the Meteor third. A protest has been entered against the Welcome.

Second Class Race—Mr D. Paterson's Toko 1, Mr W. Brittenden's Ailsa 2, Mr Peter Find-la-j's Thistle 3. Also started: Irene, Clean Sweep. This race was looked forward to with no small amount of interest, as the Thistle (late Snip), last year's champion, was competing. The Toko assumed command just after starting, and won with a bit to spare. The Thistle was holding second position when she missed the posts, and let tho Ailsa get second place. As the Toko lias won this race twice in succession, Mr Reid's trophy becomes Mr Paterson's property.

The Junior Race was not held. The club desire to thank Mr F,. Wilkinson, jun., who officiated as starter and judge of the course. The club intend to be represented in the Interprovincial Handicap, to be held in Lyttelton on January 3, handsome prizes being offered by the Regatta Committee there.
