MEETINGS AND ENTERTAINMENTS.

The half-yearly summoned meeting of the Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the Friendly Societies' Hall, Currie street, Port Chalmers, on Tuesday, December IS. There was a large attendance, and after correspondence had been dealt with one candidate was initiated. The following are the officebearers for the ensuing term:—G.M., Bro. G. Galvin; N.G., Bro. A. Bell; V.G., Bro. C. Flocton; E.S., Bro. A. Fisken; warden, Bro. D. Woolsey; guardian, W. M'Cormack. Receipts for the evening, :£65 Us Bd. . The fortnightly meeting of the Hope of Kavensbournc Lodge was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Monday, Bro. G. Mitchell, C.T., presiding. There was a very large attendance, the lodges Alliance and Star of Freedom beir.g officially welcomed. During the evening songs were contributed by Sis. M'Glashan, Bro. Dalton, Bro. Mackay, Bro. Newall, Bro. Smith, and Sis. Mitchell; while recitations were given by Sis. Gemmell, Bro. Thomson, Sis. Henderson. Sis. Clark, Bro. Jlullenger, and Sis. Christensen. The lodge resolved to give their hearty support to the Good Templars' picnic, to bo'held at Waitati. Tho annual summoned meeting of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.TJ-, was held on December 18. N.G. Bro. F. Willis presided. There was a good attendance. A quantity of correspondence was dealt with, after which there was the election of officers for the ensuing six months, which resulted as follows:— G.M.. N.G. F. Willis; N.G., V.G. H. J. Johnston; V.G., E.S. T. Flynn; E.S., Warden Berry; warden, Bro R. .Crawford; R.S.N.G., P.G. J. .Broadfoot; L.S.N.G., Bro. Thomas Ireland; R.S.V.G., Bro. M'lnnes; L.S.V.G., Bro. R. Todd; fniardinn, Pro. J. Hopcraft. The second toast was responded to by N.G. Bro. Beeson (Oa.versham Lodge) and N.G. D. K. Smith (Valley Lodge), P.C.S. Hopcraft responding on behalf of the district officers. Receipts, £163 13s'9d. The annual meeting of the South Dunedin Volunteer Fire Brigade was held on Wednesday, Captain Price presiding. The nnmial report was submitted, and the following officera elected for the ensuing 12 months:—Captain, Captain Price (re-elected); lieutenant. W. Ross; foreman, A. E. Austin; secretary, C. Lucas; branchmen, A. Miscall and A. Price; hydTantmen, C. Lucas and H. Le Brun.
