OTAGO PUBLIC SERVICE CLUJ3

The annual ball in connection with the public service in Dunedin was held in the Choral Hall last evening,, when there was a- very large attendance', over 70 couples being present. The hall, which, had been tastefully decorated by members of the club, presented a handsome and animated appearance. The management were very successful in i;heir efforts in bringing together at this annual reunion members of all the different branches of the. public service, and a pleasing feature last night was the presence of so many of the heads of departments, who united.with their juniors in making the'ball one of the most pleasant and successful of a long series. The arrangements inflected great credit, oh, Mr C. Conn and his brother stewards—Messrs J. Austin, H. H. Bice, D. Smith, and E. G. Monk,—who all worked untiringly to promote the enjoyment of their guests. The catering was in the hands' of Mr Lean, whose arrangements, as visual, left nothing to be desired. First-class tousic was supplied by Mr Hamann's band.. The duties of hon. - secretary were discharged- by Mr Arthur Marryatt.
