SUNDAY TRAIN TO WAIHOLA.
■PROTEST BY THE PRESBYTERY.
At a meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery held yesterday morning the Rev. A. M. Finlayson brought up the matter of a train having been run to -Waihola On Sunday in connection with the.ppening of the Roman Catholic Church therei and on bis motion it was unanimously adopted:—" That tbo Presbytery, having''their attention called to the running of excursion trains on the Lord's Day in,,9911 nection with the opening of a church sit AA 7aihola, resolve to record their deep coiieerir at such encroachment oh the day of rest, and tO approach the Minister for Railways and respectfully point out that such encroachment i 3 opposed to the Divine law in the Fourth' Commandment, and to the convictions of the Christian people of this land; that the employment of public property and public servants-ill this way is a matter which concerns .the. whole community; that tho ostensible occasion'—a1 religious service—in no way lessens the guilt of the Sabbath-breaking, but rather enhances it; and the Presbytery earnestly request the Minister to direct that no further encroachment of this kind shall be permitted." -
