AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.

AUCKLAND, August 2. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Racing Club the report of the committee congratulated members upon the oontinned success of the club. During the season the club held four meetings, fts against five last year, the Colonial

Secretary having refused to grant * permit fol Ihe first Spring meeting. In the face of thii £13,450 had been given in added money against £11,545 in the previous season, or an increase of £1905. The totaliiator investments amounted to £101,926, against £101,136, an increase of £790 and one day's less racing. The club had purchased the property from Mr Crowther where the steeplechases are run for £2500. This nai necessary in order to secure a free right to use the property. A members' dining room had also been built. The club had made a new plough gallop, and built a brick culvert across the gallop and course, which would lessen the risb of accidents, at a cost of £383.

M'Gregor, Aiber ; Gve-eighths, Riley ; half, Hay; wings, Laing and S. M'Grpgor; forwards—Gillett, Otway. Brady, J. MrGregor, Clarkin, M'Keczie, and Sampson; emergencies—Cardnp, Laws, Harrison. Mynott, Nicholson, Lewis, Pitt, Baton, Clarke. A match at cribbage and euchre was played at the Provincial Hotel last evening between teams from the Caledonian and Port Cbalmeri Bowling Clubs, and resulted in the former winning by 22 games to .I*. The toast of "Tb« Losers "was proposed by Mr A. Clothier, and j was responded to by Mr Wall, while the toast of "The Host", was, in. recognition of hi« liberal entertainment of the teams, drunk with great heartin«st. Bach club has now won one • match, and the rubber will be decided at Port Chalmers shortly. ■ ■
