MR MORRISON, M.H.R.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —I fnlly expected that Mr Morrison would deny the quotations I made from his speech in Hansard. I again repeat them, and his addition of words to one quotation and his silence on the other three show the value of his denial and tbe false position he takes towards the Otago Central co-operative works and settlement.

And silence on the other ianues causes me to aak of Mr Morrison, Why did the Workers' Political Committee summon you to appear before them to explain your speech on my same quotations ? You did nob deny them there, for the simple reason that you had to own to their truth, but explained that the Government put you forward to slate Mr G. W. Russell on the able speech be made on behalf of the claims of labour ; and your only explanation was that, as a well known party man, you thought you were best serving the interests of the worker politically by obeying the orders of the Government. Some uistnbera of the committee, after hearing your explanation, were prepared to overlook any broken pledges that had been made by you to the committee for your support of party government. —I am, &c, Caversham, March 18.
