CHURCH MEETINGS.

PARISH OF ALL SAINTS.

The Chathman said that the expenses during June, July, aud Augustr were always higher than at any other time of the year.

The annual meeting of the parishioners of AH Saints was held in All Saints' Church schoolroom on Tuesday night. Dean Fifcchett presided, and there were about a dozen persons present.

The anhnal report, which was submitted-to the meeting, contained the following clauses:—

_ The vestry have to report that, after providing for the usual expenditure and reducing the parish aebt by £JOO, the income for the year leaves a surplus of £4 '4s 2d. For the £100 reduction in the debt the parish is indebted «o tho Ladies' Guild; that sum being-the result of a sale of work held1 in December last.

Adding, m the income of Sunday.school and other departmental accounts not administered by vestry, the gross receipts for the year are ±1005 Oa 3d. After providing for maintenance of

The Chairman spoke as follows :—Considering the.t thore never were so many firms working short time as now, we may heartily.congratulate ourselves upou the fact than our income has diminished so slightly. Bat during the last few sveoks the offertories hove shown a very marked tendency in a i-ioing direction, and if this continues we may even hope for a fair surplus of income over expenditure this year. It is very gratifying to myself to note thai ntibsoriptions to the stipend fund during_thfil*Blil2 months amount to £23 15s 6d. ugiiinat £27 17s lid for 18 monthß hi 189 V Every sum given to the stipend fund is a distinct gain to the church, for these amounts come froth persons who do not attend the church. This improvement is due to Mr Favell .and the l*dy collectors, and I am Bure yre ought to ba very grateful ts them. I trust that ths incoming vesbry will continue the plan adopted last year of making one member responsible for one psrt of the work of the church, and I hope that every vestryman will be prepared to take up and carry through with energy some part of the vestry work. The custom of electing a ventry of 10 persons simplymeans that hitherto about half the number attend, very irregularly, and teks no active part in the work. As my own part in th's vestry work, I should like to unite with Captain Easther in trying to raise funds with which'to redeem debentures. A friend offers £50 of'debentures for £25 if we can raise the'money by 31st October, aud a friend to the church has offered to sell one debanture for £4-, so that if we coald raise £29 we should reduce the church, debt by £3S. This seems good enough. I will give £1 towards this sum, arid a friend has offered £2 so that oaly £26 remains to ba raised. '

• The reports- presented by the Vicar was as' follows :— ■ .' \,
