SPORTING.

In the Handicap- Time Trot, at the Waimea Plains Races, Silver Bell's handicap is 35sec behind scratch, and not 45 as published.

An Auckland telegram states that Crackshot and Morion have been scratched for the Auckland Cup.

A rather attractive programme has been prepared by the Central Taieri Club for a race meeting to be held at Henley on Boxing-Day. It comprises a Maiden Plate, of 20sovs, for local horses ; Central Taieri Handicap (one mile and a-quarter), of 40sovs ; and Handicap Time Trot (three miles), of 35sovs, and five other events. The ground is said to be especially favourable for a course. There is a platform for disembarking horses, and plenty of stabling accommodation close at hand. Nominations for the principal events will be received by the secretary (Mr T. A. White, Outram) on or before Thursday, December 17, at 8 p.m.

The following stakes were paid over in connection with the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting :—Captain Russell, L 252 ss; J. Mather, L7l ss; K. M'Kenzie, L 66 10s; G. P. Donnelly, L 61135; D. Knight, L 61155; H. Dodson, L52 ss; B. Dennehy, L52 ,ss. Several small amounts under LSO bring the total up to L 950 ss.
