STRIKE OF 'BUS MEN. [6s HMorma TzLKaKAVH.—OorezHffH'j 1 (Per Press Association.) London, June 9. (Received June 10. at 10.40 a.m.) The omnibus strikers have refused to accept the terms of the companies, and demand an actual, not an average, day of 12 hours, with an increase of wages, and to be paid for a holiday once a fortnight. The London Trades Oouncil have issued a circular appealing for funds to assist the strikers. The charge of intimidation preferred against Mr John Burns in connection with tlie omnibus strike has been dismissed. Mr VaughaD, the stipendiary magistrate, refused to grant a fresh summons against Mr Burns. June 10. (Received June 11, at 0.40 a.tn.) There is no change in the position of affairs in connection with the strike of the omnibus men. THE BOOTMAKERS' STRIKE. (From Oub Own Coebespondent.) Auckland, June 9. In the course of a discussion at the Boot Manufacturers' Association some members of the association intimated that tbey had evidence that the federal mode of work, with the trade it drives to other markets, has already convinced many of the workmen that the old usages, with the advanced rates of the local statement, would be the most satisfactory to Auckland boot manufacturing. They were of opinion that it would have a good straight run for at least a term of years, without even an attempt to reduce the wages now offered. They believed that their customers wonld heartily support suoh an arrangement and encourage their patrons in the production of local made boots in preference to imported ones, which, they maintained, must supersede many lines now manufactured locally if the federal statement were accepted.
