Sib, —The following lines from a song (written by Dr Qillespie, of Edinburgh, about 25 years ago) maybe of interest to devotees of the sulphur cure at the present time: — Tni Sulphur Cues or Dr Dbwab. Air: " Champagne Charlie." Oh I If you should feel poorly, And don't know what to do, I'll tell you what will surely Effeot a cure on you: Just light a p»n of sulphur Beneath a cutty atool, And ait on it until you feel The neat reverie of cool. (CHORUS.) Sulphurous add 1b the cure, Sulphuroui acid Ii the cure, Good for every pain or hurt, my boya I Are the lulphur fumes of Dr Dewar. All ailmenta of the body, All injuries to limb. This doctor from Klrkoaldy Asserts are cured by him ; It is a Bimple remedy, Well worth your while to try, For It has the charm of novelty— Whloh " nobody can deny." (CHORUS.) A lady in the vapours Will certainly get well. By burning sulphur tapers Begardless of tbe smell; And as for every hacking cough A sulphur-rolled cigar Dispels like magic in a trice The mlßerlea of catarrh I (CHORUS.) A chap who hails from Blggar Cures all with sulphur fume, And now the old gravedigger Has no one to entomb; He swears his occupation's gone, And he the town must quit, For nobody dies, they all live oa O'er lulphur fumes to Bit I (CHORUS.) It Is the fixed Intention Of a chimney sweep, I'm told, • To olaim this new invention Ab twenty-five years old. So. Dewar! look to your laurels, Two gentlemen in black, Of questionable morals, Propose your claim to sack. Old Hick declares the brimstone cure His own peculiar bent; The chimney sweeper rudely swears He did the cure in vent I (chorus ) It ia worthy of note that it was not until six years or more after the writing of this song that an Australian startled the world bj discovering that sulphurous acid was an infallible cure for diphtheria. Those who are curious about the early history of sulphur curing in the colonies should consult old files of Australian newspapers.—l am, &c, Dunedin, May 14. Antiquabian.

BHbb, eon of the president of the American Oollege at Beirut, has been apDointed to continue the work begun last spring by Mr Flinders Petrie at Tell el Hasy, the aite of Lachisb.
