WEST HARBOUR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The adjourned meeting o f the West Harbour Borough Council was held last evening, and was attended by hia Worship the Mayor (Mr Barclay), Cra Bell, O'Donnell, Oeorge, Young, Harold, and Wickens. RB?p,BT. The Finance Committed reported that £96 19s had been paid into the bank. M'Millan wrote drawing attention to the nuisance existing in the borough through stray horses wandering about.-The letter was received, and the clerk instructed to communicate with people cautioning thorn in the matter. Mr VVrn. Heed wrote complaining that cattle were allowed to be turned adrift for grazing purposes by cattle dealers and milkmen, and that through this he was unable to grow anything within sft of his hedge.—Received. In connection with this matter Or GEOROKsaid it was quite time they had n policeman in the district and the sooner they could oriug it before the Minister of Justice the better. There was a lot of petty thieving ping on-a little hay could not be left afeout without io disappearing. The population was sufficiently numerous to warrant the presence of an officer. The Mayor suggested that Or George might put his ideas in the form of a motiou co thin the council niifiht communicate with the inspector of police. He had on a previous ooeasiou suggested that a house should be taken there and the constable allowed to do duty in town, and the inspector was quite in [ favour of this. Cr Gkokgk moved-"Shat a deputation wait on the inspector of police aa to the desirability of having an officer stationed in Kavensbourne." This was carried, and the meeting adjourned.
