Store Cattle.—The inquiry being made during the past two or three weeks has not as yet resulted in much business. There are not very many suitable lots offering, but when the Bpring grass is a little further forward, aud sellers imd buyers become more reconciled in respect to prices, we anticipate considerable business. Us to 8a; 809 hoggets, 12s 4<l t< 7b 6d Wo also sold 53 head fat and Btore cattle a from £8 2s 6d to £4 6s. Sheepskins.—The demand for these continues ex ceedingly satisfactory, and though tha catalogue! presented every week represent a large number ol Bklns, they all llud buyers, and, to all appearance, r very much greater number could jußt be as casilj disposed of. On Tuesday, the regular weekly Bali day at the Central Auction Booms, the attendance as usual, was large. Keen competition exited; al descriptions were in good request; and the cata loguea apeedlly cleared at prices, though not quiti up to last week's lots. Quality considered, there wai no difference in those ruling thfS week. Butchers green crossbreds, beat, brought'Bs 3d, 7s 3d, 7s, 6i lOd, 6s 9d, 6a 83, 6s 7d, 6a 6d, 6s Sd, 6b id, 6s 3d; gooc to medium and inferior, 6b, 6b lOd, 5b Bd, 5b 6d, 5s 4d 5s 2d, ss; green merinoes, 6s Id, 6a, 5s lid, 6s 9d, 5i 6d, 5s 3d; green lambskins, 9d, Ib, la 3d; countrj dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought la 4d to 4s ; do do merino, Is 3d to 4a Id ; medium to full-woolled orosßbreds, 4b 2d to 8b 3d; do do merino, 4s 3d to 6s sd; dry peltß, 3d to Is 2d. Kabbit6ki.iß.-The Bupply is now falling off verj considerably; very few good winter skins come to market-nearly all being aprlng tnklnga. However, a good demand continues to exist. At the regulai auction sales all the Bhippers are always present, and compete with spirit up to limits which at the moment are in full sympathy with thoie ranging in the London market. We quote prime winter greys, Is 4d to la sjd; ordinary to good, Is ljd to 1b 3Jd; medium, 9d to Is; inferior, 5d to 8d; blaok and fawn, 7d to lOd; Buckera and half-grown, 2d to4d perlb. Hides.—There la no quotable alteration to note in values, the position of the market being about the same as when we laßt reported. The demand continues fairly active, but very little prospeot for any immediate improvement. We quote extra heavy, properly saved, 2}d to 3d; heavy, 2Jd to 2{d; medium, 2}d to2|i; light, 2d to2jd; inferior, Jjd to ijd per lb. Tallow.—There is no apparent change in either demand or value. A fair demand exists, and all available supplies are readily placed. We quote: Prime rendered mutton, 19s to 20s ; medium to good, 16s to 18b ; inferior and mixed, 12a 6d to 15s; rough fat-beßt mutton caul, 13b to 13b 6d; inferior to medium and good, 9a to 12s (id per cwfc. Grain.—Wheat: This market is slowly but certainly weakening. Shippers have no inducement to purchase at late current prices, and millers are operating with extreme caution, only purchasing just sufficient for present requirements, which are only to a very limited extent. The position of the market in consequence is far from satisfactory, and the prospect for the disposal of most of the wheat now in store ia not by any moans favourable at the present moment. Quotations are: For best Tuscan, 3s 6d to 38 7d; best milling red straw and velvet, 3s 3d to 3a sd; medium to good, nominal, 3s to 3a 2d; inferior to best fowls' wheat, 2s 3d to 2s lOd (?x Btore). Oata- These have a moderately fair demand, and a good many are being disposed of but at slightly lower prices than those obtaining last week, especially fo" prime milling, medium to good feed Bhowiug but little difference. Considering the heavy shipments lately gone forward to Australia, the probability is Mint prices will not improve very much for some little time at any rate. Quotations are-for stout bright milling. Is lOd to la lid; short bright feed, Is BJd to Is 9Jd; medium. Is 7d to Is 8d (ex store, sacks extra).—Barley: The quantity remaining in agentß' hands is within small compass, but there is no demand of any consequence for any description, though extra prime for mailing, in limited quantities, could still be placed, but in the absence of such samples there is iittle.or nothing doing. We quote prime malting, nominal, 3a 5d to 3s 7d; medium, 2a 9dto 3i ; feed and milling, 2s 3d to 2s 8d (ex store, Backa extra). Grass Seed.—Ryegrasß seed stocks on hand would appear to be more than sufficient for requirements, nud unless a considerable improvement is experienced in the demand it is probable a quantity will have to be carried over to .next year. Quotations—for local grown machine dres6ed, 3s 6d to 4b ; undressed, 2a 6d to 3s; Poverty Bay, 5s to 6s (sacks extra).—Cocksfoot continues in Bmall request, the saleß effected being confined to very small parcels, at prices ranging from 2Jd to 4£d per lb. Potatoes.—Best Northern Derwents have » very good demand. Last week's prices are firmly maintained. Good Southern are also easily placed, and though kidneys are saleable prices would hardly oover charges. Quotations are—for best Northern, 97s 6d to 100s; medium, 90s to 955; Southern, 60s to 955; kidneys, 25s to 50s per ton. Chaff .—The supply this week has been quite equal to requirements. Prime :oaten sheaf, well cut, is always saleable, while ordinary, indifferently cut, andatraw chaff is more difficult to place, the latter especially being almost unsaleable. Quotations are ! For prime, £3 5s to £3 7s 6d; ordinary, £2 to £2 153 ; straw, 20a to 30s per ton. . Dairy Produce.—The market continues inanimate j quotations nominal. [The individual reports of wool, rabbitskin, or grain brokers can be inserted in the Daily Times and Otano Witness at special rates,] GRAIN AND SEED REPORT. Messrs Samuel Okb and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending October 16, as follows i— Since last reporting the weather has been of a most joyous character, the rain then reported having had such a beneficial effect in tho country, crop 3 and turnips looking magnificent after it. A little more rain would still be of great benefit. Wheat.—There is not thealightestchangein the tone of our market—in fact, we think it is flatter, the millers doing but little, the demand having considerably fallen off for the manufactured article, and but little chance of it increasing as summer approaches. The prices at Home, too, are also easier. America is, howerer, an exception, it tjing firmer there. On the spot prices are: For prime milling Tuscan, 3s 5d to 3s 6d; velvet and redatraw, 3s 3d to 3s .4d; medium, 2a lOd to 2s lid; while fowls'feed ranges from 2s 6d to 2s lOd. Oats.—During the past weak large shipments have gone forward, io as to reach the Melbourne market prior to the duty coming into force on the 24th, and notwithstanding these heavy shipments more could have been cent had space been available. It is most astonishing where they come from when the markets go up or come down, and to our knowledge from places where it waß not thought 1000 tags could be got 10,000 have come forward. The quantity is not being used locally as in former years, while millera are not doing much in manufacturing. We quote: Extra prime milling, Is lOd-sacks extra; h<-avy bright feed and ordinary milling, la 8d to Is fld; ordinary feed, Is 7d to Is 8d; musty and inferior, from la 3d to Is 6d. Barley.—ln the absence of sales we refrain from giving quotations. Chaff.-The market is being well supplied, while the consumption is not ao large, as green feed is coming in, and nights being fine horses are turned out, thus saving fted. We quote: Prime oatea slieaf, if well cut and screened, up to £3 7s 6d; ordinary, £2 10s to £3. Grass Seeds.—Hyegrass: A few tales are regularly going on, but the demaud is not bo great as in years past. Cocksfoot, too, is still on sale at from 2jd to 4d lb.
