Sib, —Our supply of water is likely to become a problem of the future. You have touched upon the drainage question,'which all will admit is a most serious matter for us _to think Qvor. But I think our water supply is'amattor, of equal importance. .Supposing, Sir, we were; to have a long dry season—which is not impossible—iiow should we fare? At.the present time those who use water-engines ;have got a part of their supply cut;pS,_and the publxc.;On the flats—let alone-the hills—find Taut very little pressure on their pipes.' ■ I- thitik. Sir, that the rainfall in New Zealand would .-.be quite sufficient for our wants if properly husbandod. Millions and millions of gallons are often running to waste. Some ' wise persons have kept their iron tanks, and always have a supply of rain water for drinking, purposes, which is thought to be far superior to the dirty. stuff which runs through our waterpipes in an unfiltered condttion; What with bad water and bad drainage, the doctors have a gloriouß future beforo them. —I am, &c., ."■'■ • v Iron Tank.
