Daily T^ies'Office,, "Tuesday Evening. No Export entries were passed for gold at the Custom House to-day. " Customs Revenue collected at the port of Dunedin, Monday, August 18, amounted to £622 10n.'4d.The following are the principal items :—Whisky, 82 gallons, £37175. 2d.;brandy, 168 gallons,£7l lls. lOd.; Geneva, 31 gallons, Ll4 13s 7rt.; gin sweetened. 20 gallons, L 9.; liqueurs, 26 gallons, Ll2 lls. Bd.f wine, 51 gallons, £7 135.; tobacco 115" lbs v LBl2s 6d. sugar, 6,444 lbs., £26 175.; gold, 3,383 oz. 7'dwts., £422 18s. sd.
A telegram from Sydney, which appears in the Argus of August 11, says:-—" The Kate, from Auckland, has encountered a severe storm. Two German seamen were washed oft the jib-boom, and drowned."
Vessel^ on the berth in Melbourne, for New Zealand:—Aldinga, s.s., for Otago, on arrival of Mail; Killerraont, schooner, for Dunedin, early; Pilot, for InvercargiD, early ; Alfred Lemont, snip, for Otago and Auckland, 23rd August; Ringdove, ship, for Otago and Auckland.
