(From the Advertiser.) Sir William and Lady Don were " starring it" at the Theatre Royal. Mrs. Thomas, the well-known lecturer on lotal Abstinence —" and no compromise"—(her favorite expression) has been delivering a lecture in the Tasmanian Temperance Alliance Rooms oh " The men we want." . ~ ■ : .•■: -■' r The Seymour coal mines were attracting great attention. The gentlemen who have hitherto had the working of these mines express themselves satisfied as to the excellent quality of the coal, and if it can be supplied at a price to compete with the Newcastle coal, on which point the projectors of a company to re-open them, are sanguine that the yield will form a valuable addition to Tasmanian exports. The AH England Eleven arrived at Launceston on tine 26th ult. .... A young man, named Tolmey, while on his way from Broadmarsh to the Dromedary, where ,he resided, was attacked in a most violent manner by three large eagle-hawks, and, but for the assistance of a Mr. Davis, who resides close by, land was near the spot at the time, the consequences would have been more serious than the few bruises lie received. Sir William Don's private carriage was valued by the Hobart Town Customs at J7O, and 32s wharfage fees was the amount of duty levied on }ts landing. The members of St. John's Association have secured the friendly services of W- Archer, Esq., M.H.A,, to deliver the inaugural lecture on "The Vegetable Kingdom." A fir;;, which, at the first, threatened serjous consequences, h yd broken out in Canjpbelkstreet, near Warwick-street, but very little damage was done, owing to the prompt services rendered by the Insurance Company's engines.. ..,
