NEW ZEALAND v. QUEENSLAND

NARROW WIN FOR NEW ZEALAND.

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.]

(Per Press Association.)

i Received December 22, at 11.25 p.m. . Brisbane, December 22. New Zealand won by 12 runs. The match was resumed in fine weather. • There was a small attendance. The wicket was good. New Zealand, with four wickets down, continued, their second innings. Reese accompanied! Taylor to the wickets, but he was cleanbowled in Barstow's first over. Robinson and. Taylor made a stand. The former scored rapidly, and had tho honor of hoisting the, century, but becoming over-eager he went out to Downey and was stumped. Taylor appeared set when he returned the ball to Downey, who accepted it. Sandman, in jumping out at a tempting ball, was stumped. Bennett played a brilliant innings, but had the misfortune to get out leg-before to Barstow. Tie score had been increased to 161, when Patrick, who had played safe cricket, was caught by Rowe at leg off Barstow. Queensland opened their second innings badly. Fennelly was clean-bowl-ed by Robinson's first ball, and Farquliar and Rowe easily succumbed to Reese, the first three wickets falling for seven runs. Proat and Marshall checked: the rout, and the fourth wicket fell at 51. The fielding was very good', Hickmott being particularly brilliant, while the bowling was difficult. At 71 I the fifth wicket fell, and two others went down before the score was increased, Sandman securing three wickets within a few minutes. Queensland's chances of winning were considerably diminished by the fine fielding of the visitors, and a smart return by Reese resulted in Barstow being run out.
