ACCIDENTS.

(Per Press Association.) Palmerston North, December. 22. A pdinful motor' car accident happened on the Itangitikei line at 4.30 this afternoon, resulting in the death of David Musgrove, .a .taxi driver, and a well-known athlete'. "He was driving four passengers towards Palmerston when the tyre burst, and the car turned' over, killing Musgrove instantly. John Sanquist, another occupant, was seriously injured. He was removed to a private hospital. Andrew M'Lachie sustained, a broken arm, while the other two occupants escaped injury. An old man named Stratford was the victim of a level crossing accident at 7.30 this evening, when a goods train was passing the Post Ckf:e crossing. He was crossing the line and apparently •did not hear the train approaching, being struck by the engine and thrown, clear of the liiie. He was taken to the hospital suffering from concussion, and very little hope is entertained for his recovery. Wellington, December 22.
