AMUSEMENTS.
HAYWARD'S PICTURES. The programme screened at the Picture Palace last evening fully came up to expectations, judging by the applause that each picture received. The star drama "The Spirit of the Gorge." is-in-deed a magnificent subject, the scenic grandeur of the film adding greatly to the_ interest. It is an Indian picture telling the story of Iron- a hitherto cowardly warrior dares •'Tin' Spirit of the Gorge" and rescues from almost certain death a drowning maiden. ''The Cowboy's Romance" is an exciting Western story in which* cowlmys and galloping horses, etc., play an important part._ The cross-country riding of the Belgian cavalry is another excellent picture. There is alsoon the list a firstclass historical subject, and another excellent dTatna. The comedies are, as usual, highly amusing. The programmo will lie screened again this evening and to-morrow evening, ami we would advise those who have not seen it to do so before the season ends.
