NORTH OTAGO RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of members of this association was held last evening at the Royal Hotel. The chair was occupied by the President (Dr. DeLautour), and about 'JO nio.mhprs were present. The minii.ti s of the last meeting; having been read and eoniirvfted, the Secretary read the nun\ial report, which was of a highly satisfactory nature, congratulating the members upon the success which had attended the association during the- year. The thanks of Iho Committee were tendered to the lad.ies r.r,d gentlemen in the district who had enabled the associati(;n to put forth a number'; of valuable j priz-s for competition. The.(report also ! mentioned particularly the work done to j promote the welfare of the association by j the President (Dr. DeLautour) and the i Secretary (Mr. Atkinson). i The balance-sheet was also read, show- j ing that the total receipts for the year j amounted to L9O IMs. Cd., and expendi-;' ture to LSB lt'is.. leaving a credit balance of L2 3s. (id. ! After a lengthy address by the Presi- ' dent, who enumerated what had been
done during the past year, and offered words of encouragement for the future, rhe election of officebearers for the current ye:ir was proceeded with, the following being the result;:—-President : Dr. U. A. DeLatonr (re-elected): VicePresidents : -Messrs. A. S. Otterson and 11. Peattie : Secretary and Treasurer: D. A. Atkinson (re-elected) ; Committee : Messrs. A. Headland, R. L. Rule, T. Morris, M. C. Hickey, J. King, and two others to be selected from among the i >tepw]"> members. Tlic President having drawn attention ro the advisability of fixing definitely the claims of persons to membership, it was resolved, after some discussion, that an annual subscription of ."is. should be! charged. It was decided that the ladies' champion belt should be won by a member of •he X.O.R.A. twice in .succession, or ihree times at intervals to entitle him to become the permanent possessor. Votes of thanks were passed hi the retiring office-bearers, and to Srafi'-Ser-geatit M-ijor M'Pherson for the careful manner in which he had marked at the association matches. A special vote of thanks was accorded to the Hon. Secretary (Mr. Atkinson) for the able and energetic manner in which he had discharged the duties of his oih'ce for the past year, and it was decided to present liim with a substantial token of the esteem i'f the members in recognition of the valuable services. The customary vote of thanks having been accorded to the Chairman the proceedings terminated.
