MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
(PF.ll PIIKSS AIJKSCV.) Wp.Lf.iNCTOx, August (!. At the Municipal Conference to-day, it was carried that Leaislatures should furnish increased facilities for Municipalities raising loans for works of improvement; that the Goldfields Act be amended so as to accord with the new provision passed l>y the Conference in reference to streets in Boroughs within goldfields; that the powers of Borough Councils he extended to include the sale of streets no longer required for public use, proper provision b' iug made for private rights also ; that Councils have power to purchase land, with the view of constructing new streets.
