An anti-Russian feeling in Roumania is increasing. Every able-bodied man is prepaeing to mobilise. Massacres are reported of Christians in Bessarabia and Crete. The Greeks are intensely indignant. Numerous foreign deputations are arriving at Rome for the Pope's funeral.

The Russians arc close to Constantinople, and threaten occupation if the English fleet enters the Dardanelles. The fleet entered yesterday, despite the protest of Turkey, which is now more Russian than English. Russia, among other terms of peace, demands a portion of Bessarabia, which may involve complications with Austria and Roumania. There is general excitement here. DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. It is understood that the Underwriter's Association report that the New Zealand Company's ship Craigmiller, from London to Wellington, met with a collision, and put back.
