PARLIAMENT.

(by telegraph.) Wkllington, Oct. 9,

The principal business bef r« the House of Representatives yesterday was the no-confi-dence motion of Sir. Larnach, which he gave notice of at an ea; ly hour in the afternoon. After one or two small matters had been di.-posed of, the Premier a*ked that the noconfidence motion should be tone on with at once. There being no objection to this, Mr. Larnach at once proceeded to move, " That the Government do nut possess the confidence of this House." The debate was not a very lengthy one, members on all sides being desirous of coining to a dccisi'-n without delay. At half-past 9 o'clock a division was taken, and the Ministry defeated by 4'2 to 38. The •following is the division list: — Ayes, 42—Messrs. Baigent, Ballance, Barff, Bastings, Brandon, J. C.
