POLITICAL SITUATION.

Wellington', October 9.
In the Legislative Council t >day, the Hon. Dr. I'ollen, af er some formal business had been introduced, stated that, in consequence of the vote given last night in another place, Hon. gentlemen would be prepared to learn that Ministers had placed their resignations in the hands of his Excellency the Governor, and that Ministers now only held office until their successors were appointed. He said that, under these circumstances, it was usual for the House to adjourn from time to time, until Ministerial arrangements were completed. He therefore moved the adjournment of the Council until to-morrow, at the usual hour. Sir F. D. Bel said that it was always usual, on such occasions, to inform the Council who the Ministers recommended the Governor to send for. The Hon. Dr. Pollen said : Under these circunistauc-js, sir, we have recommended the Governor to se d for Mr. Laruach. The immediately adjourned. 3..'i0 p.m. The Ministry has placed their icsiguati >n in the Governor's hands to-day, and ue>ked for a dissolution between lweive and oi.e The liover or declined to grant it. The Mini-try advised the Governor to send for Mr. I arnach, who proceeded to Government House at three o'clock.
