RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M.) DRUNK. AND DI-ORDERLY. John Ba : u was charged with having been drunk in Thames-street yesterday, and was fined ss. SLY-GROG-SELLING. A charge of sly-grog-selling against James Robertson, boarding-house keeper, Humberstreet, was adjourned until Monday. ALLEGED WATER STEALING. James Moynihan and Eugt-ne Sullivan were charged, on the information of William Joseph Williams, with having on the 30th September and on the 2nd October, taken some buckets of water from his tank The prisoners both pleaded guilty to taking the water, but denied that it belonged to the prosecutor. Sub-Inspector Smith prosecuted. The evidence of the prosecutor went to show that the parties lived in the Benevolent
Society's cottages. The prosecutor, although living in one of the cottages, held the key of another, into which he intended removing. It was from the tanks belonging to later cottage that the accused too'i the water. Henry Richmond, collects to the Society, stated that the prosecutor had no right to the water in dispute as he paid no rent for the house fro u whi-h it had been taken. He had given the accused permission to take the wafer. His Worship dismissed the case.
