(fsom our own correspondents.) * DUNEDIN. October 4. William-;, the old man -whose sentence for vagrancy attracted so much attention a little time since, died in the Hospital last night, of apoplexy. A small cottage has been destroyed by lire at Mnn-ford town. It -was insured in the National Office for L2oo. The High School Commission had only a formal sitting. J. W. Orierson pleaded Guilty to embezz'ement, and was sentenced to three years' impris'innent ; Pennyend, for forgery, was sentenced t> 12 months. A special jury has been granted in Mr. Oeo. Jones' case, but the date of the trial has not yet been fixed.
