MUCH m the public eye recently has been G. W. Clinkard, now m charge of the combined Departments l of Industry arid Commerce and Publicity. Clinkard has had an outstanding career. He was formerly an advisory accountant with the Department' of Industries and Commerce, member of important, boards and commissions, including the Tariff Commission which last overhauled the Dominion's schedule of duties on imports, and latterly Secretary to the s'amoan Administration. He had not long taken up this job when' the appointment of J. Collins as Trade Commissioner m Canada made the Public Service Commissioner look round for a new man to control the Commerce Department.
