A HAPPY INSPECTOR
"THOUGH his position as officer m 1 charge of the Christchurch: Labor Department imposes many unpleasant duties on R. T. Bailey, everyone who knows him designates him a "grand little chap." He is one of those small men who effervesce good nature, and his sparkling eyes, and cheery smile are as good as a tonic. He is seen at his best m the Magistrate's Court when crossexamining an errant storekeeper, or someone who has been . guilty ,of N a breach of the regulations he administers. That is when he is a man m the seventh heaven of delight. Though conscientious at his ."job he likes nothing better than a defended action, so that he may have the opportunity of. cross-examining. He is a master, of all the tricks and ruses of this gentle art, and there: are quite a few of the dlmnjer lights of the Christchurch Bar who could learn a few points m the game.
