SOVIET ARMY'S STRENGTH Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Received January 20, 11.25 p.m.) LONDON, January 20. The “Chicago Tribune's” Berlin edition reports that secret services reveal that the Soviet army is strongest in Europe. The personnel is 1,270,000 permanent Infantry, 370,000 trained reservists, 560,000 cavalry, and 60,000 air force with 2000 airplanes, 860 of which are obsolete, but being rebuilt and fitted with apparatus for spraying deadly poison gas, ostensibly to protect, the Russian forces from parasites.
