The pennant committee of the Victorian Cricket Association refused Ponsford and Ryder permission to play m pennant club matches while the Victorian team was absent in New South Wales and Queensland. Ryder and Ponsford had previously notified the association that they were unable to. accompany the team, for urgent private reasons.
