ALLEGED FRAUD

ARRESTED IN AUSTRALIA £2OOO INVOLVED. Per Presa Association DUNEDIN, January 19. , Charges involving, according to the police, about £2OOO, will be preferred against George Thomson Swann, who has been brought from South Australia. In the Police Court this morning he was charged with obtaining £IBO from Margaret Gibson with intent to defraud, by falsely representing that he was supplying the Exhibition Company with machinery and that the complainant would share the profits. Chief-Detective Cameron said that there would be six charges involving £2OOO. The accused was remanded . until January 28th. Bail was allowed at £SOO.
