AT HIS MAJESTY’S
REVUE AND VAUDEVILLE. “On the Wheel,” the present offering of the Phil Smith Revue Company at His Majesty’s, is the tale of a commercial traveller’s wife and a • sympathetic! old gentleman, whose sympathies are- misunderstood by his wife and the lady’s husband. In the first place the lady was to have gone on a joy-wheel with her husband, who did riot turn up. That is where the old gentleman comes m. He enters into the story—and so do trouble and complications. The wheel rises and the hopes sink, for it stops when they are in mid-air. After that there is a series of complications and misunderstandings, which are finally straightened out through truth being made to take a back seat—especially by the husbands. Phil Smith and Nat Hanley are at their best this week. Peggy Peate, Phyllis Nicholson, Nellie Dean, and Robert Raymond are all heard to advantage, while Charles Megan and Mildred O’Brien , delight with their dancing. ; William Green is a valuable member of the show. The Smiling Six are as usual a feature of the revue. Their dancing wav of the highest order.
In the vaudeville part of tho hill, Leslie Elliott makes a great hit with the audience with her songs at the piano. Her popularity grows daily. The Kailis, David and Queenie, are a pair of singers whoso Hawaiian music is a great success. Cardini. the magician, still mystifies the audience with his clever sleight of hand tricks His “magic kettle” trick is ono of the best on record. Bella and Morris, a bright comedy couple, are popular in song and patter. Bert Elliott, a newcomer, is popular, and presents a fine turn in which -lie does some clever juggling with hats. The orchestra, ted by Mr Frank Crowtlier, is excellent. :
