SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR .£2OOO FROM ART UNION. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association was held last night. Present —Messrs A. Varney fchairmait), P. C. Rose, H. J. Graves,' W. G. Bryce, F. Campbell, B. L. Salmon, and the secretary, L. A.-Atkinson. In the protest of Miramar Rangers against SC Patrick's, a fifth division rcase, on appeal from the WJ.A., it was decided to uphold the decision of the local association in view of the conflicting nature of the evidence. %t was considered that the appeal was justified, and that the fee ahould be returned. It 4 was reported that a sum of approximately £2OOO would be forthcoming to the council as a result of the art union, a small balance still remaining to be settled. Mr H. I. Graves proposed that the net proceeds from the Chinese tour and recent art union be invested in Municipal, Harbour Bojrfrd, or Hospital Board debentures. The interest is to be paid into the general account. SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR A letter was received from the South African Football Association accepting the invitation to send a team to New Zealand provided that no expense was incurred by the. South African Association. 8 , JP v * e,v the cost of obtaining and selecting the team, half of the profits if any should be paid to them. A reply had oeen cabled accepting the conditions excepting the division of j>rowluch were,, problematical. Thev asked that tho team should leave South Africa on June 12th, arriving in New Zealand about the middle of July, It was hoped it would be possible to arrange f° r a month's tour in Australia, which would be of great’ financial assistance. It was stated that the cost of the tour would be about £5500. The reply was approved, and any reply from South Africa will be considered at the next meeting. It was decided to send the Football Association trophy for exhibition at the exhibition at Dunedin, and' to insure it n £ ai fi s t fire and burglary in any part of the Dominion.
