’BUS OVERTURNED
EIGHT PERSONS INJURED COLLISION WITH ICE-CREAM VAN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 25. On the Great North road on Sunday afternoon, a motqr-’bus, driven by L. McCarten, and an ice-cream van, driven by T. A. Newton, collided, and both vehicles were overturned. Eight passengers were taken to hospital, but four of these went home after treatment. Three children and one man remain in hospital: Iris Moore, aged 9, with a fracture of the right arm; Thelma Moore, aged 12, with a fracture of the left arm; Trevor Pennycook, aged 11, with laceration of the left foot; and Raymond Edgar, with laceration of the left foot. LORSY GOES OVER BANK AUCKLAND, January 25. A lorry driven by R. Mann, returning from Ngaruawahia races on Sunday morning, in pulling aside to pass a motor-car, fell over a steep bank, and lodged against a tree 15 feet below. Two members of the party were rather badly hurt, but were able to travel home hy car. DRIVER’S" INADVERTENCE OAR SWERVES INTO DRAIN. HASTINGS, January 25; Mrs F. J. MoKeown, of Havelock North, with three children and Mr Mid Miss Hill, of Napier, were driving from Havelock to Hastings this afternoon. Mrs McKeown placed her foot inadvertently on the accelerator, and the car swerved into a deep drain on the side of the road. Mrs McKeown had one of her fingers badly injured, and on© of the children, Leila, aged 14, received a fractured/ leg. The rest of the p.arty were cut and bruised. The car waa wrecked.
