AFTER BIG FISH.

ZANE GREY AND PARTY GOING TO DEEP WATER COVE. (By Telegraph.—Special to “Time®.”) _ AUCKLAND, January 25. Messrs Zane Grey and Alma Baker and party have arrived at Russell and will shortly take up quarters at Deep Water Cove, near Cape Brett. When Mr Grey and party first saw Russell, and especially the photographs, they exclaimed: ‘‘Avalon.” The township is just like Avalon township of Catalina Island, California. The sportsmen and Captain Mitchell identified a photograph of a swordfish, shown to them by the secretary of the Swordfish Club, as being the Black Marlin, a different species to spearfish, which is caught in tpe Bay of Islands. Only four of these fine big Black Marlin were caught at Cape Brett last season. Mr A. Bi. Williams, of Tokomaru Bay, secured one of 6231 b; Mr G. Wentworth, -of Sydney, another of 5271 b; a third, 4721 b, was got hy Mr G. A. Buddie, of Auckland, and Mr P. Gardner, of Kamo, got the fourth of 4501 b. A majority of the deep sea fishermen have thought the big fish to bo a male to the spearfish, but Mr Grey says it is a different species, and that they weigh up to more than 10001 b. Only one has been seen at Catalina Island, but they are to bo found fairly plentifully down the Mexican Coast, FILMS TO BE TAKEN The Government Publicity Officer, Mr A. H. Messenger, accompanied by Mr C. J. Morton, Government cinematographer, are en route to Russell to join Mr Zane Grey, who has made arrangements to have his visit to the Dominion pictured by cinema and still oamera through the Publicity Office. It is hoped that some thrilling pictures will result, as they will be shown throughout the United Btates and in other parts of the world and should assist greatly in making Now Zealand’s claim to bo a spartman’s paradise something beyond dispute. The Publicity Office is providing a series .of the best works on New Zealand hy Dominion _ authors for Mr Grey’s use in gathering interesting data about the country.
