NEW ZEALANDERS UNPOPULAR
CRICKETERS’ REMARKS ANNOY WAGGA WAGGA PEOPLE TEAM "BARRACKED” ON FIELD. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association SYDNEY, December 17. Indignation was caused at iVagga Wagga by remarks alleged to have been uttered by the New Zealand cricketers. On their arrival at the town they Tisited the cricket ground, where the captain, Patrick, is said to have made disparaging remarks concerning the ground and wicket. Another member of the team is alleged to have said that the Board of Control should have been censured for sending a team like the New Zealanders to a town like Wagga Wagga. Dining a dinner to the' team, the Mayor referred to those remarks, and oompared the artificial wicket at Wagga Wagga to the natural ones of New Zealand.
In passing reference toytlio incident, Patrick, at the dinner, said that the team was agreeably surprised at the why in which the wicket had played. It was one of the fastest scoring grounds they had played on, and his team had greatly enjoyed the visit Local feeling, which ran very high over the incident, was reflected in the incessant barracking throughout the match.
