AMERICA’S ATTITUDE. “HELPING THE CAUSE OF PEACE.” “Although Mmanca. has not joined the League of Nations,” said the Con-sul-General for the United States, Ml E. H. Gunsaulus, yesterday, in conversation when announcing his retire* ment from the diplomatic service. “She ia always ready to help along the caugg of peace.” America had done her best to preserve and make stable the peace of the world, and had at all times been willing to lend a helping hand. New Zealand rwas doing a great deal towards bringing about good relations, and her friendly attitude towards the United States resulted in reciprocal trade td the advantage of both countries. . The furthcoming visit from the American fleet Would no doubt. prodnee good results, in .the. manner of the actoerveme-nts of the recent tour of 'the Empire Service Squadron. Hie regretted leaving New Zealand, said Mr Gunsaulas, as the people here had always shown marked hospitality, and the relatione’ between them ana’ his Government, through him, were mast cordial.
