A charge of manslaughter was preferred against William Pitman, a land Agent, at the conclusion of an inquest ‘before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M. concerning the death of Elsie Lillian Roberts, who received fatal injuries through being knocked down on November 3rd -by a motor-car driven by Pitman. The' coroner returned a verdict in which he . said that the motor-car was driven by Pitman in a culpably negligent-, mariner.' J / Pitman when charged with manslaughter pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Bail was fixed at £SOO, arid was forthcoming.
