END OF SEASON RACING 'MAtRANGI WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club completed its racing programme on Saturday when races were held for first and second-class yacht, and the 18-footers. The champion first-claes boat on the season’s sailing, Mr B. Clarke’s Marangi, and the winner of the competi- | tion for the greatest aggregate number of points is Messrs Scott and Gordon’s Ailaa. The following are the details of Saturday’s racing, the times given being the actual finishing times in every case:— FIRST-CLASS YACHTS. The race for first-class yachts resulted as follows: Ailsa 1; White Heather (lOJmin), 5 hours ISmin 13sec, 2; Rona (2min), 5 hours 7min 3sec, 3; Viola (12min), 5 hours 20min 2scs; Kotiri (llimin), 5 hours 21min ooeec. . SECOND-CLASS. There were only three starters in the second-class race, and these finished in the following order: — Windward (sorb 5 hours ISmin 22 sec, 1; Raiwene '(oinin), 5 hours 36 min 16sec, 2; Seabird (lOmin), 6 hours 30 min 42sec, 3. 18-FOOTERS. The 18-footers raced for the Clark and Morris trophy, which was won by Geisha off an. eight minute handicap. Results are: Geisha (Bmin), 4 hours 48min 3Qsec, 1; Claire (3min), 4 hours 43min 48sec, 2; Peggy (sot), 4 hours 43min, 3; Eynin (3min), 4 hours 50min 36sec. “JOY NIGHT” A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. A very successful ‘‘joy night,” organised by the Sanders Oup and regatta committees, was held at the boat narbour on Saturday evening, with the object of raising funds to meet regatta expenditure. The foreshore was brilliantly illuminated, and gay with fluttering hunting, while an added air of festivity was lent by a brilliant fireworks display. There was a large attendance of the public, who jazzed and frolicked on the “hard” to their hearts oontent, the while a jazz band discoursed spirited and invigorating music. An appetising 6upper was served in the Port Nicholson club house, and festivities were maintained until close upon the witching hour of midnight.
