STONE THROWN AT MOTOR

WINDSCREEN SPLINTERED. DRIVER WOUNDED IN FACE. An unenviable experience happened to a motor-car returning to Christchurch from the Waimakariri river. Mr J. A. Guild, of Sumner, the owner of the car, and Dr H. Wales, were driving back to Christchurch after a day’s fishing at the Waimakariri. Mr Guild was at the wheel, and the car was running along smoothly in. the dusk, when, about 300 yards on the Christchurch side of White’s bridge, a large stone J weighing about a pound, splintered the wind-screeD, covering the occupants with glass, and causing a great deal of consternation. The boulder was thrown from the right-hand side of the road, apparently by someone behind a high hedge. Mr Guild received cuts about his face and splinters of glass in his eyes. Dr Wales escaped injury. This is the second case of its kind that has been reported lately.
