LAUNCH PARTY MISSING
ANXIETY AT TAURANGA. Per Press Association. TAURANGA, October 12. Grave anxiety is felt for the safety of three residents, Messrs Evans, Morgan, and Dickson, who left here at 3 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon in a launch to go fishing. The party only had a loaf of bread and a pound of butter, and no word has been heard of them since. To-day some fishermen saw' a boat on the beach at Mataikana Island, near Kati Kati harbour entrance and a dinghy on the beach about half a mile away, but there was no sign of the men. The fishermen were unable to get on to the beach owing to the breakers, hut a party have now gone to the island, and will endeavour to reach the stranded boat overland. They are expected to return to-night. Wednesday night was very “dirty,” there being heavy rain and wind. The party left the harbour when other boats u’ere returning for shelter.
