LABOUR DEPARTMENT’S RECORDS. The total number of unemployed on the Labour Department register this week was 149, of whom 116 were fit for heavy work, and 33 for light work only. The former class comprised a baker, a boot operator, a blacksmith, 4 butchers, a, carpenter, 3 clerks, 6 cooks and stow'ards and hotel ■ workers, 7 motor and horse drivers, 3 engineers, turners, fitters, etc., an engine-driver, 4 farm hands, a fisherman, a gardener, a gasfitter, 67 labourers' 2 runners, a painter, a sawmill hand, 4 seamen, firemen, etc., 3 shop assistants, a storeman and warehouseman, a tailor’s presser, and a wireless operator. The class fitted for light work only consisted of 7 clerks, 5 cooks, stewards and hotel workers, a horse and motor driver, an engineer, 16 labourers a shop assistant, and 2 storemen.' ’ '
