PIGEONS MISSING

HOMERS FAIL TO HOME. The members of the Lower Hutt Homing Pigeon Club held its weekly race from Frankton Junction to Lower Hutt last Saturday. This race was a serious loss to members, for out of 32 birds sent to Frankton, 17 have not yet reached their lofts, and 1 members have {given. up hopes of their return. The birds must have met with very heavy weather. The estimated time the birds should have taken was 5J hours. The birds were liberated at 9 a.m. on the 6th. The first bird homed l at 11.25 a.m. on the 7th, and the last bird on the Btli at about 3 p.m. The birds were much knocked about, and in consequence the club has decided l to cancel the race from Auckland to-day and hold it on the 20th.
