ALLEGED ASSAULT
MAORI v. CONSTABLE. Shortly after 8 p.m. last evening, it is alleged that a Maori, named John Stark, who was in. a drunken condition, approached a constable on duty at Perrett’s corner, and, without any provocation whatever, proceeded to assault the officer by bitting him in the face.
He was accordingly arrested and conveyed to tho Taranaki Police Station. He will appear before the Magistrate’s Court this morning.
