SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION

VARIOUS AiOTTVITIES. The monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held on Thursday evening. There were 30 delegates present, the president, Air H. D. Grocott, being in tiie chair. Air W. E. Howe gave a report of tho recent “Rally” which had been very successful. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Leslie, custodian of the Town Hall, for valuable assistance given at the Rally’. The chairman reported that the pro posed recruiting campaign for now Scholars was receiving the attention ot -a strong committee representing the various churches and the Salvation Army. In connection with the Rotary Club for boys, tbe union had issued a circular to all schools asking them to include in the school session on Sunday, 21st inst. special addresses on boys’ welfare. It was resolved to accept tbe invitation from FeUding to hold the Easter convention there. An appeal was received from tiie World’s S.S. Associa tion for funds to hem the Japanese S.S. Association, to rebuild the beadquarters building which was burnt down at the time the World’s Sunday School Association were bolding their convention there in lf>2o. It was decided to make an appeal to friends, and to schools to subscribe to this ob ject, as it was considered that in addition to the call of the Japanese foi help in the misfortune of the loss of the fine building, many people would welcome this opportunity of showing sympathy with the Sunday School friends there in the earthquake disas tor, and of helping forward the eetab lithing of Christian Sunday Schools in the land. Sunday and Alonday, October 21st and 22nd, are to ho observed the woTld over as days of prayer for Sunday Schools, and the union has made arrangements for the due observance of the days by special meetings on Sunday, and an evening meeting on the Monday.
