THEFT AT HOTEL

FOUR MONTHS’ GAOL. An admission that he had stolen, at Wanganui, a blue serge jacket and trousers, a returned soldier’s badge, and a sovereign, to the total value of £ll, the property of Cedric Gerald Fearon, was made at the Police Court yesterday by a middle-aged man, Peter George, alias Robertson.' Chief-Detective Kemp explained that George had been staying at one hotel and the complainant at another. Accused visited Fearon’s room while this latter was away, and removed the articles mentioned. As an excuse, however, the defendant declared he was drunk at the time.

A term of four months’ hard labour was imposed by the magistrate.
