YOUNG WOMAN'S LAPSE

THEFT OF CLOTHING. NURSE’S DOUBLE OFFENCE. A young woman named Ivy Winifred Meurant, 21 years of age. and a nurse bv profession, appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, on a charge of stealing several articles of feminine attire, valued at £2 18s, the property of Christina Mary Gunn. Chief-Detective Kemp explained that the accused had been hoarding with the complainant .at ■ 135, Ghuznee street, and on July 25th she had left the premises taking with her the articles, the property of tbe complainant, mentioned in the charge. Accused had subsequently been arrested by Detective Cameron on another charge and was sentenced to twelve months’ reformative treatment.

Accused was accordingly convicted and discharged. An application by Mr G. Toogood for an order for the suppression of her name was refused.
