THROUGH MOUNT VICTORIA CITY COUNCIL AND AUTHORISED LOAN. SURVEYS WILL TAKE MONTHS. ' The construction of a traffic tunnel through Mount Victoria, which has been agitating the minds of suburban bodies outside the city’s eastern boundary for some time past, was the subject of a clause in the finance committee’s report at this week’s City Council meeting. Tbe committee recommended that tbe Hataitai and Lyall Bay Municipal Electors’ Associations be informed, in reply to representations, that the council will not be in a position to deal with the tunnel until steps have bran taken to float the loan authorised for the purpose by the ratepayers in September,; 1920. Councillor T. Forsyth moved that tbe recommendation be referred hack to the committee for further consideration. It was stated that the surveys' for the scheme would take some months to complete.
